Yelawolf, Alabama’s sensational hip hop artist is bringing his signature rhymes to the Ogden Theater!
Yelawolf (birth name Michael Wayne Atha) was born in Gadsden (Alabama) and is of Cherokee and White American descent. His stage name is Native American and he said in an interview, “Yela represents light, the sun, power, fire, hunger and Wolf represents my ability to survive… my fierceness.” He made his show business debut in 2005 by appearing on the reality TV show The Road to Stardom with Missy Elliott. His stint on the show got him a reputation for being a mural painter from Alabama and after he was eliminated from the show, he self-released his debut album (Creek Water) in 2005. He kept honing his craft over the next 4 years and it led to him getting a record deal with Ghet-O-Vision Entertainment. He’s had a stellar career with 2 studio albums, 2 EPs, 3 collaborative albums, 7 mixtapes, 22 singles, and 32 music videos. He’s also collaborated with many renowned artists such as Gucci Mane, Lil Jon, Kid Rock, Eminem, Travis Barker, DJ Paul, Ed Sheeran, Slim Thug, Tech N9ne, ASAP Rocky, and many others. In 2011, he got a recording contract with Eminem's record label (Shady Records) and he’s currently working on his latest album (Trial by Fire).
