The Wood Brothers, Colorado’s sensational folk blues artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Ogden Theater!
The Wood Brothers is a trio consisting of brothers Chris (upright bass) and Oliver Wood (acoustic and electric guitars), as well as multi instrumentalist Jano Rix. Chris and Oliver grew up in Boulder and were introduced to music by their father. Oliver said in an interview, “Well, we got into music just like many others. Listening to The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and other ’70s bands. But our dad, not only was he a scientist, but a great folk singer and guitarist as well. So when we were kids, we used to listen to our dad sing old classics. He had a badass record collection, too – Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, The Who, etc. The records that really got me going were the blues records like Jimmy Reed, Muddy Waters, Eric Clapton, and all those guys. We started to get involved with that stuff and began to rock ‘n roll. We really got into the scene directly and indirectly from our dad.” The brothers went on separate paths to pursue music careers (Oliver moved to Atlanta while Chris went to New York City) and after 15 years, performed together at a show in North Carolina. They realized they should band together and they went on to release 9 albums and 1 extended play.
Don’t miss your chance to see these artists add a unique touch to folk blues music!
