The Disco Biscuits, Pennsylvania’s sensational jam band is bringing its signature sounds to Ogden Theater!
The Disco Biscuits was formed in Philadelphia in 1995 Jon Gutwillig (guitar and vocals), Marc Brownstein (bass and vocals), Aron Magner (keyboards and vocals), and drummer Sammy Altman (who left the band in 2005 and was replaced by Allen Aucoin). They began their musical journey by playing gigs at many local frat parties but it wasn’t long before they shifted their focus to the nightclub scene. Their musical style blends elements of many genres but has uses a base of electronic and rock music. It can best be described as a blend of trance (a genre of electronic dance music that developed during the 1990s in Germany) and jazz fusion (a style that developed in the late 1960s when musicians combined aspects of jazz harmony and improvisation with styles such as funk, rock, rhythm and blues, and Latin jazz). According to Jon, the goal of the group is to create the wildest (or craziest) music of all time. They’ve had a stellar career with 14 studio albums and they’ve been the supporting act for many renowned bands and artists such as Merl Saunders, the Black Crowes, the Jerry Garcia Band, and Morphine.
