Tash Sultana, Australia’s sensational indie rock artist is bringing her signature sounds to the Ogden Theater!
Tash Sultana (birth name Natasha Sultana) was born in Melbourne (Australia) in 1995 and is a singer, songwriter, beatboxer, and multi instrumentalist. She began her musical journey by learning to play the guitar (a gift from her grandfather) when she was just 3 years old. She went on to master many other instruments (including bass, trumpet, flute, percussion and saxophone) and started busking on the streets of Melbourne. Her breakthrough came when a video of her performance went viral. She said in an interview, “It just got shared and shared and shared and I was like whoa, it was like 10,000 extra followers over night and then it just kept happening and happening and happening. I love the fact that there are so many people who have come to appreciate what I'm doing, that is just the best feeling in the world.” She released her debut extended play (Notion) in 2016 and it hit #8 on the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) chart. Two of her singles (Jungle and Notion) were voted into Triple J’s Hottest 100 list (compiled by popular Australian radio station Triple J) and it wasn’t long before she got a record deal. She’s also toured with Garbage and performed at Woodford Folk Festival, Southbound, and St Jerome's Laneway Festival.
