Steven John Wilson was born in Kingston upon Thames (London) in 1967 and is a musician and record producer best known for his work in the progressive rock genre. He’s an autodidact who is adept at music production, audio engineering, guitar, and keyboard. He can also play the bass guitar, autoharp, hammered dulcimer and flute. He made a name for himself as the founder, lead guitarist, singer, and songwriter of the band Porcupine Tree. He’s also known for his collaborations with many renowned bands such as as Opeth, King Crimson, Pendulum, Jethro Tull, XTC, Yes, Marillion, Orphaned Land, OSI, Fish, and Anathema. Aside from his stellar career with Porcupine Tree, his solo work consists of 4 studio albums, 2 live albums, 2 compilation albums, 4 singles, and 9 music videos. He’s always barefooted in his live shows as it makes it easy to operate his diverse guitar pedals and he says, “I’ve stepped on nails, screws, drawing pins, stubbed my toe, I’ve come off stage with blood just coming out… I mean, I’ve had it all mate, but to be honest, nothing's going to stop me.” His work has been critically acclaimed and he’s received numerous accolades including 4 Grammy Award nominations and 3 Progressive Music Awards.
