OMD, England's sensational electronic music artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Ogden Theater!
Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) was formed in Meols (Wirral, Merseyside, England) in 1978 by vocalist/bassist Andy McCluskey and keyboardist/vocalist Paul Humphreys. The band's been through many line up changes since then and it currently consists of Andy (bass guitar, keyboards, and vocals), Paul (keyboards and vocals), Martin Cooper (keyboards and saxophone), and Stuart Kershaw (drums). Over the years, their musical style has spanned many genres such as electronic, new wave (a genre of rock music that moved away from smooth blues and rock and roll sounds to create pop music that incorporated electronic and experimental music, mod, and disco), synth pop (a subgenre of new wave music that rose to prominence in the late 1970s and features the synthesizer as the dominant musical instrument), experimental (a genre defined broadly by exploratory sensibilites radically opposed to, and questioning of, institutionalized compositional, performing, and aesthetic conventions in music), and post punk (a broad type of rock music that emerged from the punk movement of the 1970s, in which artists departed from the traditional garage rock template of punk to pursue a variety of avant garde sensibilities). They’ve had a stellar career with 13 studio albums, 6 live albums, 5 compilation albums, 2 extended plays, 39 singles, 45 music videos, 8 video albums, and they've sold over 40 million records worldwide.
