Mogwai, Scotland’s sensational post rock artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Ogden Theater!
The band was formed in Glasgow (Scotland) in 1995 and it currently consists of Stuart Braithwaite (guitar, bass, and vocals), Dominic Aitchison (bass and guitar), Martin Bulloch (drums), and Barry Burns (guitar, bass, keyboards, synthesizer, flute, and vocals). While their musical style can be broadly classified as post rock (a form of experimental rock characterized by the influence and use of instruments commonly associated with rock music, but using rhythms not traditionally found in it), they’ve also experimented with indie rock (a genre of alternative rock that originated in the United States and the United Kingdom in the 1980s, encapsulating the genres chamber pop, indie pop, lo fi, math rock, neo psychedelia, post punk revival, sadcore, and shoegazing) and space rock (a subgenre of rock music characterised by slow, lengthy instrumental passages dominated by electronic organs, synthesizers, experimental guitar work and science fiction or outer space-related lyrical themes). They’ve had a stellar career with 8 studio albums, 2 live albums, 13 singles, 3 compilation albums, 2 remix albums, and 13 extended plays. They’ve also composed the score for films (The Fountain, Before The Flood), documentaries (Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait, Atomic, Living in Dread and Promise), and for the TV series Les Revenants.
Don’t miss your chance to see these artists add a unique touch to post rock music!
