Cut Copy, Australia's sensational electronic artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Ogden Theater!
Cut Copy was formed in Melbourne (Victoria, Australia) in 2001 and it consists of Dan Whitford (vocals, keyboard, and guitar), Tim Hoey (guitar and sampler), Mitchell Scott (drums), and Ben Browning (bass guitar). While their musical style can be broadly classified as electronic, it's best described as a blend of synth pop (a subgenre of new wave music that rose to prominence in the late 1970s and features the synthesizer as the dominant musical instrument), dance punk (a genre - closely associated with the post punk and new wave movements - that emerged in the late 1970s and is characterized by punk music with a more rhythmic tempo which made it easier to dance to), new wave (a genre of rock music that moved away from smooth blues and rock and roll sounds to create pop music that incorporated electronic and experimental music, mod, and disco), and indie electronic (a subgenre of alternative/indie rock with affinity for electronic music, using samplers, synthesizers, drum machines, and computer programs). They’ve had a stellar career with 4 studio albums, 3 extended plays, 19 singles, 9 music videos, and 2 ARIA Awards (for Best Cover Art and Best Dance Release). They've also been nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronica Album. Their latest album comes out on 22nd September 2017.
Don't miss your chance to see these artists add a unique touch to electronic music!
