Café Tacvba, Mexico’s sensational Latin rock artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Ogden Theater!
Café Tacvba (stylized as Café Tacuba) was formed in Ciudad Satélite (Mexico City) in 1989 by four friends: Rubén Isaac Albarrán Ortega (vocals and guitar), Emmanuel del Real (keyboards, programming, acoustic guitar, piano, and vocals), Joselo Rangel (electric guitar, acoustic guitar, and vocals), and Enrique Rangel (bass guitar, electric upright bass, and vocals). Over the years, their musical style has spanned many genres such as rock en español (a term used widely in the English-speaking world to refer any kind of rock music featuring Spanish vocals), Latin rock, alternative Latin, indie rock (a genre of alternative rock that originated in the United States and the United Kingdom in the 1980s, encapsulating the genres chamber pop, indie pop, lo fi, math rock, neo psychedelia, post punk revival, sadcore, and shoegaze), and neo psychedelia (a diverse style of music - originating in the 1970s as an outgrowth of the British post punk scene – that borrowed a variety of elements from 1960s psychedelic music and emphasized the cryptic margins of avant-rock, incorporating evanescent textures over an immutable bassline, producing a heavy metallic ambience). They’ve had a stellar career with 8 studio albums and they’ve performed with Beck, Incubus, Los Lobos, and Los Tres.
